Claude Duet, Anthropic's agent that watches your inbox, calendar and connected apps on its own, is not available in the UK or the EU (as of 23 October 2026). The research preview opened on 21 October for Pro and Max subscribers in the US only, through a waitlist. Team and Enterprise plans get it later, with no date.

For a company, the bigger question is not when. Duet runs on consumer plans, which are personal accounts. If someone on your team finds a way in and connects the company inbox to a personal account, your clients' data ends up under terms the company never chose.

What Anthropic launched on 21 October

Claude Duet is a separate app for iOS and Android, also available on claude.ai. Anthropic calls it a "proactive agent". It sends a morning brief from your connected apps, checks those accounts every few hours and works on tasks in its own cloud computer, so your laptop can stay closed. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5 and you cannot switch models.

It needs your approval to send messages, pay, sign documents or delete things. Some things are off limits even with approval. Trading securities and moving money between accounts are two of them.

Anthropic is open about the limits. Duet can misjudge what is urgent and miss something that arrives between check-ins. The Help Centre also says no defence against prompt injection, meaning hidden instructions in emails or web pages, is perfect.

Who can use Claude Duet today

You need three things at once. Missing any one closes the door.

  • Pro or Max account in the US, with a waitlist invitation. Duet today: yes. Company data used for training by default: depends on the user's setting.
  • Pro or Max account in the UK, Germany, France or elsewhere in Europe. Duet today: no. Company data used for training by default: depends on the user's setting.
  • Claude Team (2-150 seats). Duet today: no, "later". Company data used for training by default: no.
  • Claude Enterprise. Duet today: no, "later". Company data used for training by default: no.

Anthropic does not say whether a sign-up from Europe counts, and publishes no queue position or timeline. The country condition stays. Upgrading from Pro to Team does not help either, because the product page says Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet.

What it costs and what it doesn't connect to

Duet has no price of its own. It comes with the plan and uses the same five-hour and weekly limits as chat, background work included. Anthropic quotes in US dollars and excludes tax, so your VAT applies on top.

  • Pro. Price (USD per month, excl. tax): 20 billed monthly, or 17 billed annually.
  • Max. Price (USD per month, excl. tax): from 100.
  • Team, standard seat. Price (USD per month, excl. tax): 25 billed monthly, or 20 billed annually.
  • Team, premium seat. Price (USD per month, excl. tax): 125 billed monthly, or 100 billed annually.

A 15-person team on standard Team seats billed annually comes to 300 USD a month before tax. We cover setting up seats, invoicing and admin controls in Claude Team for business: how to set it up.

There is a second, practical gap. The Help Centre says Microsoft 365 isn't available yet. Duet works with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack (with limits), QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign and Calendly. If your company runs on Outlook and Teams, Duet would be half an agent for you today.

Can someone on your team work around it?

Every thread about Duet asks about VPNs and US accounts. Anthropic describes no way to change an account's country or skip the queue. For a business it is the wrong road anyway, for two reasons.

The first is data terms. Free, Pro and Max are consumer plans. Anthropic's Privacy Centre says chats from those accounts may be used to improve models if the user allows it under the Model Improvement setting, and may then stay in training pipelines, de-identified, for up to five years. For commercial products such as Team and Enterprise, Anthropic says it does not train on inputs or outputs by default. If you are subject to GDPR or UK GDPR, that difference matters before anyone connects a client inbox.

The second is memory. Disconnecting an app stops future access, but Duet keeps what it learned in earlier conversations. When that employee leaves, what the agent knew about your clients stays on their personal account.

"Where does my clients' data go?" is the question owners ask us most. With Duet on a consumer account, the answer depends on one toggle in an employee's settings.

What we see in the market: two agents in a month, both without Europe

This has happened before. OpenAI launched dots on 29 September and ChatGPT Pro accounts in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland did not get them. The difference is that dots are part of Business Premium, which OpenAI's Help Centre (5 October 2026) lists for all supported ChatGPT regions. We wrote that up in OpenAI dots in Europe.

Interest is high outside the US. In Google Trends for the UK, "claude duet" reached 94 on 22 October, against 56 for "claude pro" the same day. Google's UK autocomplete for the name starts with "claude duet uk" and "claude duet available in uk". Short answer: not yet.

What this means for your company

Probable conclusion. The next few weeks are a wait, and the real risk sits elsewhere. It is the curious employee who connects a company inbox to a personal account as soon as Duet reaches Europe on Pro and Max. We base this on Anthropic's documentation and on how dots rolled out, not on a client test.

Hypothesis to test. Duet is built around one person and their apps. We don't know how it will behave on Team, where inboxes and clients are shared. Anthropic has not yet described admin permissions for the agent.

Probable conclusion. Duet's approval model, asking before sending, paying, signing or deleting, can be copied into an agent built around your own process today. Where to put a person in that loop is covered in our piece on human in the loop.

What to do this week

These four steps take about an hour and don't depend on Anthropic:

  1. Write one rule for the team. Company email, calendars and CRM don't get connected to personal AI accounts. Send it today, before anyone finds a workaround.
  2. Ask who already pays for Pro or Max. If they use it for work, move them to a company plan, or have them switch off training at claude.ai/settings/data-privacy-controls.
  3. List three things an agent should do on its own. For example, a morning summary of client enquiries, or reminders about unpaid invoices. The list is useful whether you later choose Duet on Team, dots on Business Premium or your own agent.
  4. Name who approves. For each of those three tasks, write down who signs off on a send or a payment. Without that, no agent is safe to switch on.

If you would rather work through this with people who build these agents every week, see how we approach AI agents for companies. An agent built for your process runs on the company's account, and you know what it reads and who checks it. Why a general agent rarely fits on its own is explained in Agentic AI skills: why an agent alone is not enough.

We have not tested Claude Duet, as we have no invited US account. This piece is based on Anthropic's documentation. We are not an Anthropic partner and not a law firm, so take GDPR questions about your own setup to a lawyer.

Questions & Answers(FAQ)

No. According to Anthropic's Help Centre, as of 23 October 2026 Claude Duet is available in the US only during the research preview. Access needs a Pro or Max plan, a US Claude account and an invitation from the waitlist. Anthropic has not given a date for the UK, the EU or any other country.

Not yet. Anthropic's Help Centre says Duet isn't available on Team or Enterprise plans and that Anthropic plans to bring it to those plans later, with no date given. Moving from Pro to Team therefore takes you further from Duet today, although it gives your company better data terms.

During the research preview Duet has no separate price. It is included in Pro (20 USD a month billed monthly) and Max (from 100 USD a month), and it draws on the same five-hour and weekly usage limits as chat, including background work. Anthropic lists prices in US dollars, excluding tax.

Not yet, according to Anthropic's Help Centre. Duet uses the connectors set up in Claude, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign and Calendly. The product page shows a Microsoft 365 logo among integrations, so check the Help Centre for the current status before you plan around it.

They can, but it is a consumer account. Anthropic's Privacy Centre says chats from Free, Pro and Max accounts may be used to improve models if the user allows it, and may then be kept, de-identified, for up to five years. For commercial products such as Team, Anthropic does not train on customer data by default.
